Start a Pathway Toward an Associate of Arts Degree Political Science Field of Study

The Political Science Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) at SWTX prepares students who are interested in political science and transferring to a university.

The Associate of Arts degree Political Science FOSC includes curriculum approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The Political Science FOSC includes 12 lower-division semester credit hours that are fully transferable to other Texas public colleges and universities.

Students should always consult with an academic or Political Science faculty advisor regarding transfer to a specific college or university. In addition, students should consult with an advisor at the Texas college or university to which they are transferring for additional information.

To receive an Associate of Arts Degree Political Science FOSC, students must make a minimum grade of C in all required core courses and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

An Associates of Arts Degree from Southwest Texas College provides the foundation for transfer to a university. Completion of a bachelor’s degree with a major in Political Science develops strong critical thinking skills, communication skills, personal and social responsibility required in a variety of career settings.
